DAY 9 (PART 1)

DAY 9 PART 1 (23 May 2010)- `morning hours`

133

Today's route is a little bit longer than others, so we are on the way early today. We get some gas and air then we head to Sarajevo... There are two alternative ways to Sarajevo. We take the second one from the south to discover, because the first one will already be visited in the evening...

The road starts good, but the construction on the road makes it worse. And suddenly the border gate comes...

134

Crotian police officer sees us from distance and waves his hand, then signs us to pass. We pass here without stopping. Bosnian police looks at our passports, then he makes us pass again...

and we are in Bosnia and Herzigovina...

135

Although there are some construction on this road, I highly reccommend it if you come to these countries...

136

137

138

This seems to be a normal road when you're traveling around Balkans, but there is a sign here that shows this is a national park. I think it is hard to decide which area to make a national park in Balkans. Everywhere is so green...

139

After this green road, the city comes. The signs of war horripilers us since we get into the city, and it continues until we leave.. when you think about the things happened during the war here it is inevitable...

if you want to have an idea about it, just watch "Twice Born", casting Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsc...

141

142

There are holes from bullets on the walls of most of the apartments..

Then we come to the old city of Sarajevo.

142

The old city here is really old. You walk in the city like you are in the mediavel times. Well in the old times, they were coming here by their horses, and we come by our iron horse... respect to the history.

143

144

They want to make you remember the war, and what is war like... the signs are still there...

145

There are too many Ottoman artifacts all around city like this.. Mosques, fountains...

146

147

The national monetary unit in Bosnia and Herzigovina is Bosna Marki.

148

149

Sooooo, we've walked a long way, and we get hungry. The man in tourist information in Dubrovnik offered us to eat  `cevapciçi` which is meat balls. And very delicious...

150

and we share it with our little guest...

151

let's continue to tour...

152

There comes some beautiful coffee odor from shops, saying "come! comeeee!" then we sit a place with the hope to drink a Turkish Coffee... but the waitress misunderstands us and brings espresso...

153

154

Afterwards we hit the road for Mostar. Today seems to be a little bit longer today (let's move on to the 2 part of today...)
